I've spent 15 years building and scaling engineering teams, from early-stage startups to companies processing millions of transactions a day.
At Mudflap, I built and launched the Fuel Card product from zero, growing the team to 20 engineers and leading them through a period of rapid growth. In late 2025, I started redesigning how the team operates with AI. Not as a side project, but as a fundamental rethinking of engineering workflows.
At DoorDash, I built DoorDash for Companies, a B2B product inside a consumer-first company that expanded DoorDash into corporate meal programs.
At Square, I led the Caviar for Companies team, building the corporate ordering product within Square's food delivery business before it was acquired by DoorDash.
Earlier in my career, I built products from scratch—from an online business at 18 to organizing sports teams to ridding the internet of PDF restaurant menus. These experiences taught me how to ship with small teams and limited resources, something I still value as a leader.
What I care about
The best teams I've built share three things: clarity on what matters, autonomy to figure out how, and a leader who removes obstacles instead of adding process.
Right now, I'm focused on how AI and agentic coding are changing the way engineering teams work. Not just giving everyone Claude and calling it a strategy—but rethinking workflows, team structures, and what "shipping" looks like when your best engineers are working alongside AI agents.
I applied this across teams at Mudflap and in my own workflow. Most teams aren't getting real leverage from AI yet. I write about what actually works.
I have a deep appreciation for good design. Great products leave a lasting impression. I still remember the feeling of owning my first Sony MiniDisc. As a leader, I'm fascinated by the conditions that produce these kinds of products.
When I'm not working, I'm reading or getting out into nature, preferably on two wheels. One of my personal life goals is to design and build my own home.
